Work With Us

We’ve been doing hair in Burton for 30 years, and the salon today looks nothing like it did when we started. That’s the point. We’re always looking for people who want to grow with us, whether you’re picking up your first pair of scissors or you’ve been behind the chair for years.

What It’s Like Here?

Small team, busy salon, no egos (the name’s ironic). Everyone here is employed, not renting a chair, so we actually work together: sharing clients, covering each other, learning from each other. If you’ve worked somewhere that felt like six separate businesses under one roof, this is the opposite.

Starting Out? Start Here

We take apprenticeships seriously. You’ll train on real clients from early on, with structured education through Burton and South Derbyshire College and hands-on coaching from senior stylists every week. Our current team came up this way, and we’ve got a development programme that takes you from sweeping floors to a full column, with clear milestones along the way.

Employed, Properly

Most of the industry has moved to chair rental and self-employment. We haven’t, and we don’t plan to. Being employed here means:

The Benefits of Being Employed with Ego Hair

• Holiday pay — paid time off, like any proper job
• Sick pay — because life happens
• Pension contributions — building something for later, from day one
• A guaranteed wage — you’re never working a quiet week for nothing
• Loyalty rewards — commission increases the longer you’re with us
• A training budget every year — courses, education days and new techniques, paid for by us

Where You Could Go

Every stylist here has a development plan, not a vague promise of “growth”. Reviews, goals, education and a route to senior level that’s written down, not just talked about. If you’re ambitious, we’ll match it.
